Rodney James, CFP®, CTFA
Assistant Vice President & Wealth Strategist
Rodney is an Assistant Vice President and Wealth Strategist with Kanaly Trust. He partners with Relationship Managers to provide analysis and service for clients. This includes planning for retirement, wealth transfer, executive benefits and charitable giving.
Rodney joined Kanaly in 2012 and brings over six years of experience in Executive Compensation and Stewardship, with a focus on working locally to serve global families. He is a member of Kanaly’s Wealth Management Advisory Committee.
Prior to Kanaly, Rodney joined Bernstein Global Wealth Management in 2010 as a Private Client Associate, where he partnered with two Principals, and where his responsibilities included serving clients, developing financial plans, building asset allocation models and portfolio analyses. He began his career in 2008 as a Paraplanner with APPS Financial Group, Inc., an independent retirement planning firm where he developed the firm’s first client enrichment program.
Rodney is a member of the Houston Estate and Financial Forum (HEFF). He volunteers for Caring Aggie Mentor Program (CAMP) and for Houston’s First Baptist Church. He has held various leadership roles, including President of the Texas A&M Reveille Club. Rodney is a native Houstonian and has also been active in several community development projects around the city.
Rodney received his BA in Communication, with a minor in Spanish, from Texas A&M University. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner and has completed the Texas Regional Trust School at Southern Methodist University. He obtained his Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation in July 2014. Rodney has passed Level I of the CFA Institute’s Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) program and has completed the Cannon Financial Institute’s Executive Compensation Course.
