Junior Achievement Raises Record Sum with Golf Tournament
The Anadarko and Kanaly Trust Golf Classic raised more than $221,000 for Junior Achievement programs in the Houston region. The tournament was held on November 12, 2007 at the prestigious Champions Golf Club with more than 184 golfers participating. “We were so proud to sponsor this tournament and to raise record funds for Junior Achievement. Our employees support the program and really enjoy teaching students about business,” stated Jim Hackett, CEO of Anadarko Petroleum Company. Drew Kanaly, Chairman of Kanaly Trust Company commented, “sponsoring this tournament allows us to ensure that children in the Houston area will learn about our free enterprise system.” Additional sponsors for the tournament included Marimon and AT&T.
Proceeds from the Anadarko and Kanaly Trust Golf Classic will allow Junior Achievement to impact 195,000 students this school year. More than 9,000 corporate volunteers will enter kindergarten through 12th grade to educate and inspire students to value free enterprise and understand business.
