Meet Us Robert Shelton

Robert is a Financial Advisor with Kanaly Trust. He is based in Houston, Texas and serves clients throughout the Southwestern United States. He directs the development and implementation of Kanaly’s Personal Financial ProgramTM for clients. This process is carried out through a series of meetings and discussions where Robert gains a comprehensive understanding of a client’s personal financial situation. The financial program incorporates strategies that address all facets of personal finance. It begins with a comprehensive portfolio review and detailed recommendations. It then encompasses cash flow, tax and estate planning, employee benefits, insurance and education planning.

Robert graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He is a Phi Beta Kappa and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. Robert is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of New Mexico.

Robert joined Kanaly in 2009, and has nearly 20 years of experience in investments, finance and business management. Prior to joining Kanaly, he was a Senior Investment Officer with JPMorgan Private Bank where he provided strategic investment advice to high net worth families, foundations and charitable trusts. In addition, Robert spent nearly 10 years at AIM Investments as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Equity Analyst. During his time at AIM, he co-managed a large-cap US equity fund along with a financial services sector fund.

Robert has served on the board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Gulf Coast. Presently, he serves on the board of the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, and volunteers his time for the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market. A board member of Animal Protection New Mexico, Robert is a true animal lover at heart. He formerly owned an Aussie Pet Mobile franchise in Houston, which provided in-home grooming services for some of Houston's most pampered pets. Robert holds a Captain's License with the United States Coast Guard and enjoys sailing in his free time. Other hobbies include cooking, reading, photography and real estate projects.
